Origin

From the Sanskrit verbal root दीक्ष् (dīkṣ): to consecrate, to prepare for a rite, to be initiated. The old commentators heard two words inside it — दा (dā), to give, and क्षि (kṣi), to wear away. Knowledge is given; what stands in its way is worn away. It is the oldest idea of teaching in Indian thought, and the one this school is named for.

Education runs in the family.

The Arya family own Diksha Public School in Surajpur, Greater Noida, and run it themselves. Between them they have studied management, medicine and education. They live within walking distance of the gate, and they are in the building every day.

The principal is in the building from 8 AM to 2 PM, Monday to Friday. You do not need an appointment to come and look — unannounced visits are welcome, and always have been.

Every family applying for a place meets the principal for about thirty minutes, usually within ten days of collecting the form. For KG and Class 1, a member of the family sits in on that meeting.

The front office is the first room inside the gate. Admission forms are collected there, and the fee structure for every class is available there.

The teachers

Some of them have been here longer than the senior wing.

Every class from KG to Class 5 runs in two sections, and each section has its own class teacher and a junior assistant. From Class 6 the teaching specialises by subject, and a class teacher still anchors each section.

The senior wing opened in 2011. Several of the teachers here were already teaching before it did — which means a child can go through this school taught by the same people who taught their older brother or sister.

Admissions 2027–28

The school is affiliated to CBSE — the UP State Board syllabus from KG to Class 8, the CBSE syllabus and board examinations from Class 9 to Class 12, English throughout. About fifty children join KG each year, places in later classes open occasionally, and there is no entrance examination.

    Meet the principal for about thirty minutes, usually within ten days. For KG and Class 1, a member of the founding family also joins.

    The child's interaction

    The child has a short, gentle conversation. From Class 3, there is also a brief written exercise. This is not an entrance examination.

    Receive a decision

    The school replies within a week. If a place is offered, the first month's fee and the one-time admission fee secure it.

Is Diksha Public School CBSE affiliated?

Yes. Diksha Public School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. Classes 9 to 12 follow the CBSE syllabus and sit the CBSE board examinations; KG to Class 8 follows the UP State Board syllabus. English is the medium of instruction throughout.

Which classes does the school take?

KG to Class 12, in two wings: the junior wing for KG to Class 8, and the senior wing across the lane for Classes 9 to 12. In Class 11, students choose Science (PCM or PCB), Commerce (with or without Maths), or Humanities.

When do admissions open?
